How Will You Take Advantage Of The New Facebook Page Cover Guidelines?

If you are managing a Facebook Page you will be pleased to hear of the changes to Facebook Page Guidelines for cover images which have been relaxed.The change effective from 6 March 2013 (though not widely promoted) means that you can now include a call to action on your Facebook cover image – however you must still ensure that the text on your image remains at 20 percent or less of the space.The guidelines state:

All covers are public. This means that anyone who visits your Page will be able to see your cover. Covers can’t be deceptive, misleading, or infringe on anyone else’s copyright. You may not encourage people to upload your cover to their personal timelines. Covers may not include images with more than 20% text.

Here is a tool that can help you check if your cover image exceeds more than 20 percent text http://coverphoto.paavo.ch – the tool however does not give you the ability to check the density of text BEFORE uploading it to your Facebook Page.
