Data on how to get more repins on Pinterest

If you are using Pinterest here is some research for you to review and evaluate against what you are experiencing for your content plan.

Dan Zarrella has examined some 11,000 posts on Pinterest and identified some key insights:

- the description of your Pin matters and that if your description is about 20 characters it will be more likely to be re-pinned

- people love posting content that is related to food with the most re-pins happening where the following words were included: 'chicken', 'minutes', 'bake' and 'cake'

- you are more likely to get repinned if the Pin is 'liked' by your community versus has a lot of comments

- tall images are likely to have more pins.

As ever you have to review this against your experience. I know was surprised by a recent post I shared which was just a simple text quote rahter than an engaging image received more likes and shares than most of my Pins and the time of my posting has made a difference to the amount of engagement. That's not unexpected if you consider what we know about engagement on Facebook.

What have you found works for you in relation to encouraging more re-pins of your content on Pinterest?

When asked how LinkedIn had helped, respondents to the survey said:

- 76.9% found it helpful for research about companies and people

One of the first things you must do when establishing your network on LinkedIn is to ensure that your profile is complete. The use of social media in the US real estate industry

I am researching this week ahead of an event on the use of social media for the property sector - including estate agencies, auctioneers, facilities and property management. It has been more than six months since I presented to this industry - unfortunately I have seen few examples in the sector that i can highlight as best practice in social media in the real estate industry in the UK and Ireland.

If you know of some great examples please do share them below.

In the meantime here is an infographic I found from April 2011 created by Postling who reviewed 500 Postling accounts specific to real estate in the US and more than 7,000 small business accounts to find information on how the real estate industryin the US is using social media which I hope you will find of interest if you are in this sector.

Forget the hype that Pinterest is for girls

So you keep hearing the Pinterest is just for 'girls'? Don't believe all you read - we need to 'dig into the numbers' and as I wrote about earlier this month, the majority of visitors to Pinterest in the UK are infact male according to Google Ad Planner (you need to be logged into your Google account to see the metrics).

In Ireland the number of users at the moment is so small that Google Ad Planner does not register them.

Visual.ly have created an infographic to show the data as at December 2011.

Are you on Pinterest? If so you'll find me there too!

What are the implications for e-learning in the new age of mobile platforms?

How do you deliver your learning and development programmes to your employees?

'Chalk and talk' in the training room may be appropriate in some cases, however for the last fifteen years or more we have seen virtual learning using platforms such as Moodle through to virtual conferences.

If you are delivering content digitally however what is the implication of the migration from the PC by employees to the use of mobile platforms.

Intuition the elearning provider who develop technology-enabled learning programmes for financial services, life sciences and public health have created an infographic as a reminder that we need to review the implications of this trend. (Unfortunately they don't reference the source of the statistics they use in the grapic)

I'd love to see a follow up infographic or an article about what their top tips are for managing the transition effectively - I know some organisations still have staff with out of date computers and browsers that are far from up to date.
