Mash Conference - Exploding Media 9-10 May 2011, Croke Park Dublin

Another interesting conference and workshop is launched by Media Contact and takes place in May.

The Mash conference has a theme called ‘Exploding Media’ and the conference will explore the changing trends in media.

The event is over 2 days and some of the speakers include Hilary Perkins,Multiplatform Commissioner for Drama and Film for Channel 4, Burt Herman, Founder and CEO
Storify. John Mulholland, Editor for The Observer and Evan Ratliff, Writer for Wired US.

The event takes place between 9-10 May 2011 and will be at Croke Park Dublin. Early bird tickets are available until 20 March 2011.

We know the market for traditional publishing in under pressure so this could be an interesting opportunity for publishers.

Adage.com reports that Synapse, a Time Inc. division who sell subscriptions for many publishers, is collaborating with Alvenda, a company that builds e-commerce applications, to introduce a system letting Facebook users buy print magazine subscriptions without leaving the site or even their Facebook news feed.

It is anticipated that the system will be available in July/August 2010.

Adage reports that the idea for the application came from idea suggested by the Magazine Publishers of America.
