As part of my series of case studies about how organisations are using Google Hangouts On Air, here is an example from United Airlines.
They recently hosted a Google Hangout On Air to discuss the making of their inflight saftey video.
You can see the video which was released in July below or on YouTube.
The airline commented at the time of the release of the video:
All of the necessary safety messages are incorporated into the video and there are different versions for each fleet so that safety information such as exit door locations and safety vest availability is relevant to the specific aircraft.
We developed the video with our creative agency mcgarrybowen with the goal of showcasing safety, as well as our unmatched global network. Filmed in Paris, New York City, Australia, Italy and other global destinations, the cast included 12 United employees, who had a great time trying out a new career for a day.
The video has currently about 150,000 views on YouTube.
You can watch the replay of the Hangout On Air below or on YouTube.
Unfortunately to date, if the objective of the campaign was to garner more YouTube views, they will have a long way to go to beat the terrific Virgin America Dance safety video which was launched in 2013 and has over 10 million views on YouTube.
And the behind the scenes video of the making of the Virgin America Dance video has almost 400,000 views.
But it is good to see large organisations experimenting with Google Hangouts On Air.
What ideas does this give you for using Hangouts On Air to promote your safety messages?
