One of the platforms I have written about recently for live streaming to Facebook Live is BlueJeans Primetime – you can currently apply for access to their trial for the platform and at the time of writing this article no pricing has been announced.
I have been using BlueJeans Primetime for my weekly Live Stream Insiders show and one of the things we did in the last episode is enable the audience to join us in the green room for the after show.
To do that we had to provide details of how to join the event – the after show was not been live streamed so it was a private meeting with myself and my co-host and enabled the audience to ask us questions and participate in the conversation both in the chat and on screen.
As a moderator of the live stream you have several ways to invite people to join you including using the desktop browser (use Chrome if you want to be able to share your screen when on video), using the BlueJeans app which is one of my preferred methods of joining and using the mobile apps (at the time of writing only the iOS app allows people to be on camera though the Android app should be updated in the forthcoming months to enable this).
In fact my co-host participates in the live show each week from his mobile phone as his desktop connection did not provide as good a quality broadcast. Joining BlueJeans as a guest you will be directed to this screen when the host sends you a link to join on desktop – you do not need to sign up for an account with BlueJeans,
When the moderator or host if the BlueJeans Primetime live stream provides you with the link to join on desktop you will be invited to join the live stream as a participant on the show using the BlueJeans Desktop app or your Chrome browser.
To join the live stream you will need to add your name as you wish it to appear on screen as this will appear as the lower third.
You do not need to enter your email address unless this has been requested by the host.
Alternatively with the mobile app you will see this screen when you download the app invoting you to join a meeting or an event.
Then you can enter the meeting ID to join the live stream.
The moderator will be able to enable your camera and mic so make sure that you are ‘camera ready’ when you join the live stream.
Why not come over to join us for an episode of the Live Stream Insiders on Sundays during October to see BlueJeans Primetime in action and even come on screen or into the green room for our after show – we are live on Sunday’s at 7 pm (2 pm ET) on Facebook.
