I recently wrote about how JCrew were posting photographs to Pinterest in advance of their New York Fashion Week event as part of their visual marketing campaign.
Another organisation who has been innovative in their use of social media platforms is UK fashion house Burberry.
As you review their social media marketing channels you can see from a visual content marketing perspective they are taking the role of a digital storyteller.
They posted a Vine video showing a sketch fom the collection.
They posted a show teaser in an Instagram video.
And they also showcased the iPhone 5s slow motion feature in an Instagram video of Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey finalising looks for the Spring Summer 2014 show.
I also noted on the top of their Twitter account a promoted Tweet for their YouTube video taken with the iPhone 5s for their Spring Summer 2014 collection. Using the hashtag for the new iPhone 5s in the Tweet will increase the visibility for ther content.
Also notice that they have a reference in their Twitter profile to providing 24 hour social customer support in a dedicated Twitter account.
You can see the video from YouTube below.
What is notable for their visual content marketing plan is that Pinterest hosts even more visual content for the Burberry brand. You can see far more images for their Pinterest board showcasing behind the scenes photography for their spring Summer 2014 collection – this board was also used for their Autumn Winter 2013 collection.
It is clear from the Burberry Spring Summer 2014 visual content marketing that they created using the iPhone 5s that it required artistic direction, the ability to develop a storyboard and plan for the photography and video creation, which are all digital storytelling skills brands must invest in and integrate within their visual content marketing plans.
They also had to plan their content calendar across the different social media platforms they were using.
They will also have benefited from the additional exposure of showcasing their work using the new iPhone 5s but also it has been a great benefit for Apple. Taking a look at some of the comments on social media, you can see that as Burberry posted their updates, people responded saying not only how much they liked the images, but that they wanted to purchase the iPhone 5s.
There are a number of learnings we can take from this Burberry and Apple iPhone 5s collaboration, not least to mention who could you partner with to ensure extended reach and visibility for your visual content marketing campaigns.

And if you are interested to know when you can get the iPhone 5s in the UK it is due to be available on 20 September but unfortunately there is no launch date for when the iPhone 5s will be available in Ireland.
