If you are creating content on your mobile pone such as videos or social media posts, sometimes you may not have exactly the right image available to you to use. A popular site that many people use is Pixabay which provided images available for people to use, even for commercial use, without breaching copyright – and it is FREE. do take care however as it is often easy to spot a stock image and you need careful editing to ensure that it looks as natural as possible.
Pixabay however is a helpful resource is you have no budget and are strapped for time.
A few weeks ago they released a mobile app on Android and iOS. Watch the video below to see how you can easily access images for your social media posts and video content when managing and editing on your mobile phone using the Pixabay app.
This will be a welcome feature for mobile journalists and mobile brand journalists.
If you can not see the video you can find it on YouTube here.
Here are a few screen shots that take you through the process.
I tested the app on my iPhone and noticed just as with the web, you do not have to create an account and log into the Pixabay app if you want to download smaller sizes of images – just add your search work or phrase for the images you are looking for.
You can decide if you want to search for photos illustrations or vectors.
Search for a relevant image to use for your post or video.
Decide the size of image you need to download.
Alternatively if you do not want to download the image you can choose to share it.
On my iPhone I could share the image through a number of options via my share bar.
I hope this provides you some insights on how you can easily access images available for you to use in your video and social media posts from creating YouTube thumbnails to attract more views of your videos to quote images for you social media posts when you are using just your phone and where you do not have your own images to use.
Of course if you are in an organisation that has refined and published their brand guidelines, make sure that you refer to them before you select and use any images from the Pixabay app.
