If you are curating favourite recipes on Pinterest or even recipes you want to try, how do you use the recipes you find? Or are they just saved for a rainy day?
I love strawberries so have been curating a Pinterest board of recipes dedicated to strawberries. At the same time I have three daughters who are keen to cook and bake recipes – I only hope this interest does not fizzle out!
So when I came across a recipe (with a beautiful photograph) for a no-bake strawberry cheesecake, I thought it would be a perfect treat for the girls to try to make. I adapted the recipe slightly from the original as we like a lovely crumbly base to cheescakes in our home.
If you have very young children you will need to supervise them when it comes to melting the butter and of course cutting up the strawberries.
The girls really enjoyed making the strawberry cheescake – one thing we might try next time is just putting the cheesecake in the fridge to set rather than the freezer.
I hope you will enjoy this recipe – do let me know what you think and if you decide to try it.
I’ve also been inspired by some Pinterest pals who actively share recipes on their personal blogs. It’s something I haven’t done before despite blogging since 2005, but with tweens who are interested in cooking, I’ve decided to post simple recipes for baking and cooking with the kids. I am just wondering if I will now have to have my smartphone with me all the time in the kitchen to record all their hard work!
A little known fact about strawberries in Ireland – we have recently celebrated National Strawberry Week here in Ireland an apparently there was a 33% increase in the retail value of strawberry sales to consumers in the 25-34 year old category in the last 12 months compared to the previous year, to reach €8 million – total retail sales of strawberries in Ireland are currently worth €51.7 million.
