This week the National College of Ireland is hosting it’s week long programme ‘Career Bootcamp’ featuring workshops and guidance to help people navigate the job market. (Details online at http://www.ncirl.ie).I had the opportunity to be interviewed by the Independent.ie (newslpaper) for a feature about the event (I am facilitiating a session about social media and social networking tools as part of your career management programme) and then we got the call from 4FM.ie to talk about the Career Bootcamp on their drive time show. I asked Tom McGurk the show host if he used the internet to search for people online – he said he does so everyday! The team for his show were great, helpful – yet very busy with content changing in the moment. Never underestimate the challenge of a live drive time show. Tom himself is a gifted multitasker – introducing himself to us with an eye on the music he is planning for the break, the customary traffic news segment, shouting out to his audience to ‘engage’ and text in. No they are not on Twitter at the moment – I am not sure that their audience are connected on line in that way – and he probably does not want to get people Tweeting when driving home! 4FM.ie have recently moved into a new studio – very nice it is too – in central Dublin. if you get the opportunity to listen in to the show it’s on 5-7pm weekdays – their music is for the baby boomer ear and is a pleasant relief to Dublin traffic now the schools are back!
