If you have been using Periscope for mobile live streaming in the past few months you will be aware that there are a number of community events that are being established by users under the brand of the Periscope Summit. Events are taking place in New York (September 2015) and in San Francisco and Australia in 2016.
I am pleased to see that the first European event under the Periscope Summit brand has now been announced and it will be taking place on 23 September 2015.
Update 29 August 2015: I have received notification from the team who are managing the US Periscope Summit that the London event is not able to be part of their series. And due to current agreements with Periscope, no one outside of their current planned events and direct organisation can be considered to be part of the ‘Periscope Community Summit’.
Rather than this being a traditional conference, the founder of this event Steve Harris is hoping to encourage users to share the sights and sounds of London, UK. His objective is to get as many people as possible congregating together and live streaming from famous attractions.
I interviewed Steve on a Blab.im live stream on 26 August at 2.30 pm and we discussed:
- the vision for the London Periscope Summit
- how people can get involved even if they have not yet used Periscope
- where people can share where they plan to live stream from so others can join them in real life
- what practical steps people can take to support this community driven event.
You can watch the replay of the interview below.
If you prefer to listed to the audio here is the Blab.im audio track.
If like me you are not able to participate live streaming from London live on the day there are still ways to get involved and we discussed that in the interview.
