As part of work in educating organisations and businesses to use mobile live streaming apps such as Meerkat and Periscope to promote their business, one of the areas I have been speaking and working with clients on is how they can use these apps for their live events.
You can see below an example here of Ciaran Conroy of Leopardstown Racecourse interviewing someone at their race day who was sharing tips – Ciaran has also live streamed events before race day to showcase how they are preparing for the race and also shared historical tips about the course. (Disclosure: Leopardstown Racecourse is a client).
An interesting example I came across today was from Pinterest who have been hosting their first Pintervention event in Boston.
Pinterest comment on their blog:
A little Pin can turn into something big. To prove it, a few folks on our team grabbed their hammers, built a collection of Pins and want to share them with you—in real life. Join us in Boston for the first ever Pintervention pop-up, a truly hands-on Pinterest experience.
You can find the Pinterest board curated by the Pinterest team on how to create your own dog park here.
I asked on the live stream why they chose Boston for the location of the #Pintervention event and they commented that Boston is a ‘dog friendly city’ and they had a dog park already.
They commented that they don’t have plans to take the event to other cities but that later today they planned to post a video on Twitter made using a GoPro to give a sense of the event from a dogs perspective!
How could you take some learnings from this mini campaign?
Could you curate a board on Pinterest that you then use as inspiration and bring it to life in an event such as #Pintervention. Then use Periscope or Meerkat to live stream to your audience?
I do hope this case study has given you some ideas to bring your brand to life through visual content marketing.
