There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh bread and if you bake it yourself there is a great sense of achievement.
Sometimes recipes for baking bread take a long time, so this recipe for Irish soda bread is perfect to introduce the kids to baking bread as it is a fast process and difficult to get wrong.
All the ingredients can be mixed together in one bowl so that saves on the washing up!
You can bake the bread in a loaf tin, or as we did, just place it on a baking tray.
The kids love to shape the Irish soda bread loaf and then ‘score’ it with a pattern.
What is great about this recipe is that it only takes about half an hour to make, so if you ever get caught out with no bread in the house, you can quickly make a loaf of Irish soda bread.
The kids find it really rewarding to be able to make their own bread which the can eat at breakfast, lunch or tea time.
It is also perfect for lunch boxes for those ‘back to school’ recipes – check out my Pinterest board for back to school ideas, projects and recipe ideas.
